It doesn't say hair

The Bible is better than you've been told, and you can prove it.

Many translations hang Absalom by his hair. 2 Samuel 18:9 does not say hair. Hebrew has a word for hair. That is not the word on the page. The word is head.

Absalom is left hanging between heaven and earth, and the mule goes on.

I said it in this clip: many translations say his hair. It doesn't say hair in Hebrew. It says his head. That is the proof. You can open the Hebrew and see the word.

This is not trivia. If a translation will tidy a verse to make a picture you already know, a preacher will tidy a day until it has a bow on it. Hair is the picture you already know. Head is what the verse says.

You do not get that bow in this story. Nobody in the story has the final word of what that day means. The narrator does not come back and explain what the Lord was doing. Everybody in the story is sure they already know. Even the inanimate objects are sure.

If your day does not have a bow, you are not off the map. This book has days like that. It will leave a man hanging between heaven and earth and let the mule go on. It will not come back and tell you what the Lord was doing. That is not a defect. That is how this book tells some of its days.
